Keychain # 1 and 2

Standard

Another post series I wanted to share here is my keychain collection. Admittedly, it’s been a while since I last bought/received keychains because I wasn’t able to really travel last year because of thesis, and because keychains are harder to send compared to postcards so I just ask for postcards from friends.

These keychains are the ones I have with me here in Taiwan. I’m not sure if I still have some left in the Philippines. Coron, Palawan is a beautiful island in the Philippines that my family and I would often go to during the Holy Week/summer. I’ve had a lot of keychains from Coron given by our friends there (especially when we were younger), but on my last trip to Coron in 2013 (with my parents, boyfriend, and some of our family friends), I received these ones.

How I’ve missed you, Coron! Day 4 :)

It was our last day in Coron, Palawan. I’m gonna miss this place! I really really love it here. We’re going back soon though (probably in the next year or so?), so no worries.

I met up with Mitch at night… aww! She wouldn’t be able to go to our barkada meet-up the following day and so she decided to just meet up with me one-on-one. She picked me up at home and we went to Starbucks Mezza to catch up! I’m really really touched! Thank youuu! :)

It was our last full day in Coron. We started off by going to Uncle Dan’s aquarium, where we saw a lot of groupers (lapu-lapu). Then, we went to Kayangan Lake! It’s still as pretty as ever. The only difference between then and now is that there are handrails. We stayed there for a couple of hours, and then we headed to Barracuda Lake. It’s actually more of a diving spot but since we didn’t have diving equipment, we just went swimming and snorkeling there.

After that, we went to Atwayan beach. We were supposed to go to Banol beach first but there were a lot of people so we headed straight to Atwayan. I also wanted to go to Twin Lagoons and the Lusong WWII Shipwreck area but let’s just save those places for next time! :) We went swimming and snorkeling (yet again) in Atwayan! There were also a lot of small fishes there, so we tried catching them. The only ones who were able to successfully do this were our companions (local guides). Pfft!

Our final destinations for the day were this floating restaurant where you could see a lot of big fishes, and Uncle Dan’s fish cage (where he found out that his mameng, otherwise known as humphead wrasse, were gone. Boo!) Spent the night going next door and talking to old friends. Hee!

I really love the laid-back, chill life in Coron. The people are also very nice. Lovely!

We woke up before 7AM (despite it being early, I woke up because I slept at around 9PM the night before!), had breakfast, and headed out. We started the day at Malcapuya beach, where the sand is all-natural (meaning it wasn’t brought in from another place or anything like that). We waited for the sun to disappear before we started swimming! Later on, we went snorkeling! It was so much fun!

After that, we went to Siete Pecados Marine Park for more snorkeling! I saw a lot of fishes and corals! I even saw a small mameng (humphead wrasse) and purple corals that seemed to emit light. Beautiful! It was only too bad that I didn’t have an underwater camera. Oh well, there’s going to be a next time anyway.

When we got back home, I went on a joyride with Uncle Dan around town! Joyride = hitching on a motorcycle. I missed that! I took lots of (maybe blurry) pictures and videos as we were driving along. We went home to pick Mom up, and then we went to Uncle Dan’s farm. There were a lot of chickens, and there were a lot of fruit trees (we saw banana and santol trees).

I love it!

We’re off to Coron, Palawan! It’s been ages since we last went there. When we were younger, we would always be in Coron for a week or so (Holy Week), staying with Mom’s patients-turned-family-friends, and so it has become our (un)official province!

Our plane landed at almost 5 in the afternoon. Uncle Dan picked us up. We went to the town proper, settled in our “home”, ate dinner, and headed to Maquinit Hot Springs! I still remember the days when the entrance fee was only around 25PhP, but now I think it’s at 200PhP. Wow! According to Kuya J though, it’s around 75PhP for locals.
