February 19-20, 2012
We were supposed to wake up early, but… we didn’t. HAHA! We had brunch at a local restaurant. We ordered so much that we got so full after! The servers were so accommodating so that made us happy. The food was also delicious!
Then, a bunch of us (Lorraine, Sasy, Dom, Diana, Charmaine) decided to go to The Peak (rode the peak tram) and Sky Terrace 428. We were also supposed to go to Madame Tussauds but since we were already a bit short on cash, we didn’t end up going. When you’re on the sky terrace, if you stick your head out the glass barrier, you’d feel the cold wind blowing against your face! It was so cool! I think it’s better to go there at night though, because the view is magnificent (what with all the night lights), but since we didn’t have that option, we settled for the afternoon trip!
After that, Lorraine and I went to Mongkok night market again because we were hoping to see his lady who sells bags at a cheap price (unfortunately, she didn’t show up!). We ate dinner at this Chinese restaurant – xiao long bao and Sichuan noodles! Yummy. We also had dessert and drinks again at Hui Lau Shan. Then, we watched this street performer (who is apparently from France) dance. He wasn’t good but he has a toned body and I guess that’s the reason people give him money! He probably gets around 3, 000 HKD or more per day! Pffft!
Our last day in Hong Kong was spent shopping again! HAHA! We went to Cotton On again, and then we went to Causeway Bay for lunch at Delicious (where they in fact have delicious food!). Then, some people went to Ikea, and some people went to Wellcome. I went to the latter. Last minute shopping and whatnot! We got back to Tsim Sha Tsui and bought milk tarts to bring back home.
We got to the airport, checked in and everything, and went to Crystal Jade to eat their xiao long bao. A bit on the expensive side but yummy nonetheless. The next thing I’m trying is Din Tai Feng’s truffle xiao long bao.
Remember when I said that I had 2 tickets? TW-MNL-TW and MNL-HK-MNL? Well, when we landed in Manila (around 15 minutes late), I went to the transfer desk and the lady there told me that my flight could be considered a connecting flight (and she even radioed a lot of people asking about it) but to cut the long story short, someone arrived maybe around 10 minutes later and said that my ticket was considered sectoral so I would have to go through immigration, tax, check in, etc. all over again! Tsssss. Good thing I still made it on time! I was literally running around the airport. I ran to the immigration counter, went to the front of the line, explained my situation to the person (who turned out to be one of Tiff’s friends) and asked her if she could let me go first. Then, I ran from the arrival area to the departure area, went to the check in counter (where the lady closed the counter after I got in, whew!), paid the travel tax, went to the boarding area (where this airport employee asked to weigh my bag, and then kept asking me what was in my bag and if I was the one who packed it lalala. He first talked to me in English because he said he thought I looked Korean, and only spoke Filipino after I replied to him in Filipino.), and to end the story, finally boarded my plane. WHEW! MADE IT!
We may not have seen a lot of tourist spots in Hong Kong, and we may not have done most of what was in our to-do/to-see list but I surely had fun shopping, eating, and basically just hanging out with my 3C loves! It was also my first out of the country trip with high school friends so wee!
